NORTH COVENTRY >> A 17-year-old boy died on Monday morning after he was targeted and shot inside an apartment on Sunday night, according to sources.
North Coventry police responded to Ashwood Apartments in the 700 block of Worth Boulevard in North Coventry Township, near Pottstown, for a shooting at about 11:30 p.m. on Sunday. Police said two men with masks and a woman entered an apartment on the second floor of the complex and shot allegedly a 17-year-old male in the chest.
Police said the minor was transported by Goodwill Ambulance to Reading Trauma Center in critical condition. The teen died Monday morning at about 4 a.m. Monday, according to news reports.
The Berks County coroner’s office and North Coventry Police were unable to comment about his death at this time.
According to reports, the Berks County coroner’s office confirmed the teenage died early Monday morning and an autopsy is scheduled for later on Monday night. The victim was not identified.
North Coventry Police said this was not a random shooting and they have identified at least one possible suspect in this case. No arrests have been made yet. Police said the investigation is on-going and they are actively tracking down leads.
North Coventry Police were assisted at the scene by Goodwill Ambulance, Pottstown Borough Police, West Pottsgrove Police, East Coventry Police and the Chester County Detectives.
