Three militants were killed today in an encounter by the security forces in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military said.
During a search operation in Gara Madda area of Dera Ismail Khan, the motorcycle-bound militants started shooting at the officials when they were asked to stop, the Inter Services Public Relations said in a statement.
The militants were shot dead during the retaliatory fire by the forces.
The army personnel recovered suicide jackets from the possession of the three terrorists, the army said.
The militants have been identified as Iqbal, Waheed and Majid. Iqbal was reportedly been carrying a reward of Rs 10 lakh on his head.
The operation was carried out as part of 'Operation Raddul Fasaad', launched by the army to eliminate terrorists.
