HYDERABAD: A 45-year-old woman hailing from Hanmakonda, in Warangal district, died in Gandhi Hospital on Saturday due to Swine Flu. With her death, the number of swine flu deaths in Gandhi Hospital since the start of this year now stands at 34. Four of these deaths took place in September. The woman from Warangal had been admitted to Gandhi Hospital three days ago but, according to doctors, respiratory failure had already set in by then. Recently two deaths were reported on September 20 and 21 of patients hailing from Yadadri and Kothagudem districts respectively.
Their condition was advanced, all of them reportedly suffering from co-morbid conditions by the time they were brought to Gandhi for treatment. This month, 24 patients were admitted to Gandhi Hospital for suspected swine flu. Nineteen of these patients have been found to have swine flu. While four died during treatment, eight have been discharged and seven are still under observation. Five other patients are also under observation with suspected swine flu.
