Rourkela girl cracks IES exam with 3rd rank

ROURKELA: Her determination and dedication has finally paid off. Rourkela’s 26-year-old Manisha Khuntia has cracked the prestigious Indian Economic Service (IES) examination with third national rank.
 This was her second attempt at the IES examination, the results of which were announced on Saturday. Manisha happens to be the only Odia girl to have excelled in the examination.

Hailing from Sector-3 of industrial township of RSP, Manisha is currently pursuing PhD in Economics from the Jawaharlal Nehru University. While her father Bijay Khuntia works as Deputy General Manager (DGM) in Coal Chemicals Department of RSP, Manisha’s mother Sujata is a schoolteacher.An alumnus of Carmel School and RSP-run Ispat English Medium School here, Manisha shifted to New Delhi to pursue graduation from Indraprastha College for Women that is affiliated to Delhi University.

She did her post-graduation from Jawaharlal Nehru University. Beaming at the success of his daughter, Bijay said Manisha  called him up in the afternoon to inform him about the news. “She was hardworking and dedicated to her studies since her childhood. After her graduation, Manisha was keen on joining Indian Economic Service and worked towards cracking it,” he added.
