For all those who grew up in the 90s, Kumar Sanu songs were like bread and butter. With his melodious voice, he created magic, quite literally. ‘Mera Dil Bhi Kitna’, Chura Ke Dil Mera’, ‘Jeeta Tha Jiske Liya’, ‘Meri Mehbooba’, Tu Pyar hai Kisi Aur Ka’, and among others remain favourites of many. Whether it is a love song or a heart break, his voice did justification to all.

He was also awarded the prestigious Padma Shri in 2009 and has his name featured in the Guinness Book of World Records for having recorded 28 songs in a single day.

Kumar is known as one of the most grounded singers of the Bollywood industry. But recently, he raised his voice against today’s songs. According to him, they are meaningless and vulgar. In an interview, he told PTI, “Music is good but the lyrics are not. Lyrics of some songs are vulgar… I feel they are not good for the society. People often look up to actors. It is not right on their part to do songs, whose lyrics are not good. Actors have social responsibility. They should not encourage these things. One should not promote lyrics that are vulgar.”
