The JD(S) on Sunday told the Congress the need for constituting a coordination panel to ensure smooth sharing of power in the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Council.
Speaking to reporters after holding a meeting with Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy here on Sunday, JD(S) national president D Deve Gowda said, “We have told the Congress that there needs to be a coordination panel. All decisions taken by the panel will have to be followed in letter and spirit. Some JD(S) councillors have complained to me about the attitude of Congress leaders towards them. This should change,” Gowda said.
As per the agreement between the Congress and the JD(S), the former will get the post of deputy mayor and four standing committees, including the tax and finance standing committee, while the post of mayor will remain with the ruling Congress. The poll for the post of mayor and deputy mayor is scheduled for September 28.
Gowda said a final decision on the deputy mayoral candidate will be taken after discussion with party state president H D Kumaraswamy in a couple of days.
The post of deputy mayor is reserved for general (woman) and three candidates - Netra Narayana, Manjula Narayanaswamy and Ramila Udayshankar - are in fray.
