Padmavati: From Deepika Padukone’s leaked look to Karni Sena’s revolt, here are all the updates

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati has already become the talk of the town with the release of the film’s first look. Starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor, the film, is slated for a December 1 release. And while netizens are busy drooling over the speculated looks of Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone in the film, Karni Sena have revolted once again against the franchise by burning its posters in Jaipur. Here’s a round-up of all the Padmavati updates:

1. Deepika Padukone’s leaked look from Padmavati

The first poster of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-awaited film, Padmavati was released earlier this week and everybody is already in awe of Deepika’s fierce yet regal look as Rani Padmini. Deepika’s en pointe uni-brow, complete with authentic ethnic dress up and loads of traditional jewelry is not one to be missed. And while it is getting appreciation from Bollywood and fans alike, we got our hands on some other leaked pictures of Deepika from Padmavati.

Deepika plays Rani Padmini or Padmavati of Chittor, alongside Ranveer Singh who plays Alauddin Khilji, Shahid Kapoor plays King of Chittor and husband of Rani Padmini.

2. Karni Sena burned posters of Padmavati in Jaipur

The Shri Rajput Karni Sena, an organisation of the Rajput community, on Saturday burnt posters in Jaipur of ‘Padmavati’. A group of protesters gathered in front of Rajmandir Cinema Hall and shouted slogans against Bhansali and burnt posters of the film. “While shooting in Jaipur, Bhansali had promised to show the film to us and historians before releasing it. But since then no one has contacted us, nor has the film been shown to us,” Narain Singh Divrala, district president Jaipur of the Shri Rajpur Karni Sena, told IANS.

“We want him to show the film to the core committee of Shri Rajput Karni Sena and various organizations, including historians, before releasing it,” Divrala said. “Till then we will not allow the film to be released,” he added. “If the Karni Sena core committee and historians don’t have any problems only then will we allow screening of the movie,” he added. “We have come to know through media reports that facts and history have been distorted in the film, and it is unacceptable,” Divrala said.

3. Ranveer Singh’s speculated new look

Padmavati actor Ranveer Singh was spotted sporting a clean shave after a long time at the GQ Men of the Year Awards yesterday. And he says that this is because he is shooting for the younger version of Alauddin Khilji in ‘Padmavati’.

 

Looking dapper as ever, Ranveer also added that ‘Padmavati’ is shaping up really well and shared how he shaved off his beard to shoot young Alauddin Khilji’s sequence. He told IANS, “There are lots of expectations with ‘Padmavati’… Film is shaping up really well. I am very excited about the film. As of now, I shaved off my beard to shoot young Alauddin’s portion and I really miss my beard,” said Ranveer.
