HYDERABAD: Pollution levels in Hussainsagar after Ganesh immersion this year have not shown any major signs of improvement as compared to last year.Telangana State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB) on Saturday released the data of pollution levels in Hussainsagar before, during and after Ganesh immersion this year.
When this data is compared to last year’s, it can be observed that in two of the five immersion points where pollution levels are monitored, the Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) values are higher than last year, at one point it is the same as last year and at two points improvement can be seen. However, Dissolved Oxygen levels in the lake’s water have shown improvement at three immersion points whereas at two points, DO levels remained almost the same. DO is essential for aquatic organisms to survive and as per CPCB, it should be at least 3-4 mg/L.
