34 juveniles escape from remand home in Bihar, 11 return

The juvenile inmates escaped from the remand home in Fort area of Munger, after cutting the grill of the gate.

Thirty-four juvenile inmates escaped on Sunday from a remand home in Munger in Bihar after cutting through the metal grills of the main gate, police said.

“A total of 34 juvenile inmates escaped from the remand home located in Fort area of Munger, after cutting the grill of the gate this morning (around 11am),” sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Kundan Kumar told PTI.

However, of the 34 inmates, 11 returned to the remand home, Kumar said.

Efforts are on to trace the remaining 23 juveniles, the SDM said, adding that adjoining areas of the town have been cordoned off.

The remand home had 86 inmates. Parents of the inmates have been informed, the officer said.
