BHU unrest: Did external elements take over protests?

A day after police allegedly lathicharged protesters at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has sought a report on the incident from the divisional commissioner.
A number of students, including women, and two journalists were injured in the alleged lathicharge by the police. According to police sources, some policemen were also injured in the clashes. "I have sought a report from the Divisional Commissioner, Varanasi, about the entire incident," Adityanath said in Lucknow.
Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter to attack the ruling BJP over the incident. "BJP version of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao in BHU," Rahul Gandhi said.
