More haste, less speed. However, in this case, a blunder.

In the haste to attack India at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) after Sushma Swaraj’s speech accusing Pakistan of spreading terrorism, Pakistan committed a blunder.

Its permanent representative to the UN, Maleeha Lodhi, erroneously displayed a picture of a grievously injured woman during the Gaza war in an attempt to show the “face of Indian democracy.”

Lodhi tried to pass off the victim as being a Kashmiri woman who was injured in pellet firing by Indian security forces. The picture which she confidently displayed is actually of 17-year-old Rawya Abu Jom’a who was injured when two Israeli airstrikes hit her family’s apartment in Gaza during the 2014 war, as per Outlook India’s report.

Lodhi, while brandishing the picture, accused Narendra Modi of killing Muslims in Gujarat. She exclaimed, “This, Mr President, is the face of India’s democracy," adding that the largest democracy was also the largest hypocrisy in the world.

Earlier, Indian Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj had slammed Pakistan by accusing it of only producing terrorists since independence.
