The cyber Crime Cell of Pune City Police has busted an alleged fraudulent call centre set up by a couple in New Delhi. The couple cheated several youths by making false promises to provide them jobs in a prominent aviation firm, police said.

Police have identified the suspects as Harendrakumar Vinaykumar Singh (25) and his accomplice Meena Pansingh Bist (21), both residents of New Delhi. Both have been arrested and would be brought to Pune by tomorrow (Sunday), police said.

The action was taken following a complaint lodged by a youth residing in Kondhwa area of Pune. As per the complaint, the youth got an email from a company named ‘Career Jet’. As the youth was searching for a job, he contacted ‘Career Jet’ on the contact numbers given in the email.

He was asked to pay Rs 1,650 online as registration fees. Later, he was asked to appear for an online test. Then he was asked to pay Rs 14,900 for getting offer letters from the aviation firm, Rs 25,900 as training fees, Rs 32,500 as charges for issuing I-Card and gate pass, Rs 29,200 for opening a bank account, Rs 38,500 for dress code, said police. However, he was never called at his work place even after making all the payments. So, the youth contacted the actual number of this aviation firm. He got to know that no such online recruitment process was undertaken by the firm. He then filed a complaint with the Kondhwa police station in Pune.

A team from the Cyber Crime Cell went to Delhi and traced the call centre set up by the suspects for cheating people online. Cops raided the call centre located in Sharakpur area of New Delhi and recovered seven cell phones, five sim cards, eight debit cards, a cheque book and cash of Rs 1.35 lakh from the two suspects.
