Father, aide arrested for sexually abusing 12-year-old girl

KOCHI: The Varapuzha police on Saturday arrested two persons for sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl. The accused include the father of the victim girl.According to the police, the accused, a migrant labourer, has been staying along with his wife and five daughters in a makeshift shed near a pig farm where he used to work. The victim’s father had sexually assaulted her several times since June.

The other accused a 19-year-old, a helper at the pig farm, had abused her when she was alone at home, the police said. The police have not revealed the names of the accused to protect the identity of the victim. The police said the accused were arrested and a case has been registered under the POCSO Act and Section 376 of the IPC based on the statement of the girl. The incident came to light after she revealed the incident to the school authorities during counselling.  The arrested will be presented before a Magistrate on Sunday.
