Newton box office collection day 3: Rajkummar Rao film collects Rs 6.90 crore

Newton saw a growth of an amazing 162.5 percent on Saturday and 35.71 percent on Sunday, collecting a total of Rs 6.90 crore.

After having a slow start on Friday, Rajkummar Rao’s latest release Newton has gained momentum at the theaters with some solid word-of-mouth and rave reviews. The news of Newton being India’s official entry to the Oscars has also become another dominant factor in luring audiences to the cinemas. The film saw a growth of an amazing 162.5 percent on Saturday and 35.71 percent on Sunday, collecting a total of Rs 6.90 crores in its first weekend.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared Newton box office figures on Monday morning. He wrote, “#Newton is expected to maintain momentum on weekdays… Fri 96 lakhs, Sat 2.52 cr, Sun 3.42 cr. Total: ₹ 6.90 cr [430 screens]. India biz.”

Newton’s figures are expected to improve even more in the coming days because of the fantastic reviews that it has got from critics and even the audience.

Also, actor Rajkummar Rao deserves a special mention in this case. His past record is proof enough of the fact that he is an exceptional actor who can take low-budget films like ‘Newton’ to unprecedented heights. The coming week is also going to be crucial in making or breaking the fate of this Amit Masurkar directorial.

Commenting on his film’s official entry to the Oscars, an elated Rajkummar Rao had told indianexpress.com, “I am elated and super thrilled. The kind of response we are getting for the film in India is so good and now, an Oscar submission, it’s huge. I am very happy to represent India at Oscars. I hope the film makes it to the final list. But right now, I am very happy because we made the movie with a lot of passion, sincerity and honesty, and people are recognising that sincerity.”
