LDF convenor Vaikom Viswan has been elected as the president of the CITU-affiliated Kerala State Road Transport Employees Association (KSRTEA) and C. K. Harikrishnan as the general secretary at the 41st state conference that concluded here on Sunday.

The three-day meeting also elected a 310 member general council and 125 member executive commitee. The meeting has also decided to organise agitation against the move by a section of the management to sabotage the revival package being worked out by the LDF government to save the transport utility from financial crisis.

The KSRTEA has also come out against the revised duty pattern and had called for steps to end the anomalies. “The reccommendation of the management expert cannot be accepted’, the union has said.

The KSRTEA, one of the two recognised unions in the KSRTC, has also decided to take up the issues like protection to the empanelled staff, increase in wages, steps to end the financial crisis and disbursal of PF and loan to the employees without delay in the proposed agitation, a release from the KSRTEA said.
