Storage level crosses 100 feet in Sathanur dam

Water will be released for drinking from September 25

Water level in the Sathanur dam crossed the 100 feet-mark on Friday night. As on Saturday, the level was 100.05 feet.

Surplus water from the Krishnagiri Reservoir Project dam was being released from September 2, following which Sathanur dam started to receive water. From 75.35 feet on September 3, the water level has increased by 24.70 feet now.

The inflow from KRP dam was initially 3,700 cusecs. However, the inflow reduced gradually and currently, it was receiving 416 cusecs of water.

In fact, an official release from the district administration said water from the dam will be released for drinking water purposes from September 25 to 30.

The water will be released to recharge the wells located in Thenpennai river, Villupuram for the combined drinking water scheme. Starting Monday, 750 cusecs of water will be released for five days.
