J-K: One militant killed as encounter continues between security forces, militants in Uri

One militant was killed by security forces after an encounter broke out between security forces and militants in Uri area of Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, news agency ANI reported. Operation is still currently underway in the region, the report adds. As per initial reports, at least 3-4 militants were believed to be stuck in the region.

The encounter came after security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Uri near the Line of Control (LOC) in north Kashmir early morning of Saturday. Speaking to news agency PTI, an army official said, “Security personnel laid a cordon and started a search operation in the Kalgai area of Uri this morning following information about the presence of militants there.”
