HYDERABAD:  Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao instructed officials concerned to divide Mission Bhagiratha works into two parts. The part-1 works should be completed by December 31. After this, the part-2 works will have to be completed in the first six months of 2018, he ordered the officials.Rao said that the teething troubles like leakage of the pipelines, pipelines’ breaking down due to the pressure of water and problems with the valves are going to occur when the supply of water begins, so officials should rectify them on the spot.Rao conducted a review with officials of various departments at Pragathi Bhavan here on Saturday and said that there are 25,000 habitations under part 1 and they should get purified river water as drinking water by December end as a New Year’s gift.

He said that, under part 1, there would be some problems for the next few months when water is supplied through the pipelines and officials should attended to them and under part-2, all the internal works should be done to fix taps to each and every household. “No one should get scared when pipelines leak or when there are problems with the valves. When such a programme was implemented in Gajwel, small problems persisted for a couple of months,” the Chief Minister recalled.

Rao congratulated TS Transco CMD D Prabhakar Rao for making arrangements for the 221 MW power supply for Mission Bhagiratha project.Expressing serious concern over the slow progress Mission Bhagiratha works in Palair segment, the Chief Minister directed Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari to visit the area and conduct a review meeting with the contracting agency.
The CM said that of the 80 tmcft water allocated for Mission Bhagiratha, there is a facility to supply 10 per cent (8 tmcft) of water to industrial firms.
