PM Modi to inaugurate Patna University's centenary celebrations on 14th October

After much deliberation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has confirmed to inaugurate the centenary celebrations of the prestigious Patna University on 14th October. The seventh oldest university in the country, Patna University will be completing its glorious 100 years on 1st October.

According to sources, Prime Minister Modi had already confirmed to inaugurate the centenary celebrations of the university, however, the date for the event was not fixed and was being deliberated between the University and the Prime Minister's Office.

University had forwarded four dates for PM's visit, following which a consensus has been reached on 14th October.

Though, Patna University's VC Raas Bihari Prasad Singh wanted that the grand celebration should take place at the Science College, but due to security concerns the venue is likely to be shifted to Gyan Bhawan. Following the confirmation from Prime Minister's Office, the university has begun preparations for the event on war footing.

Vice Chancellor Raas Bihari Prasad Singh will be leaving for Delhi today to hold consultations with the PMO to finalize the overall schedule for the event.

Apart from Prime Minister Modi, President Ramnath Kovind, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar are also likely to participate in the mega event.

"The visit of Prime Minister Modi at the centenary year celebration will be a historic moment and we have begin preparation for it. Many dignitaries are being invited for the celebration," said Raas Bihari Prasad Singh, Vice Chancellor of Patna University.
