BENGALURU: A Class 9 student of Ryan International School near Arakere on Bannerghatta Road was allegedly assaulted by a teacher. The school authorities have terminated the services of the teacher a day after the incident.

Bannerghatta police, who have filed a case against the teacher Ashok, a resident of Anekal, said the incident occurred in the school on Wednesday. The school principal had taken the student to a private hospital for treatment and later, his parents were informed about it.

The student’s father Kayum Pasha, a resident of Jigani, filed a case on Friday and police summoned Ashok for questioning. The school authorities said  Ashok assaulted the student after he quarreled with some classmates. He was beaten by Ashok in front of other students in the classroom and sustained injuries on his back.

Pasha told reporters that police did not respond properly when he approached them two days back and explained about the incident. A police officer at the station insisted that he come with a medical report to file a case and thus there was a delay in filing the FIR. The police officer on Saturday told Express that an FIR was filed immediately on the charges causing hurt under Sections 323 of IPC and rubbished the allegation made by Pasha. Attempts to reach the school authorities were unsuccessful.
