Forces simulate disaster rescue ops at city lake

HYDERABAD: Pralay Sahayam, the disaster management exercise being organised by the state government in association with the Army, CISF and other stakeholders held a demonstration in the city on Saturday. Hussainsagar was converted into a partially submerged urban colony post heavy showers using large dummy structures with people stranded. While the Indian Air Force and the Army Aviation employed helicopters for aerial evacuation, special forces carried out a synchronised search and rescue operations in the flooded colonies. 

Dog squad of NDRF and Telangana state police were on a look out for the trapped personnel. Relief activities such as evacuation of rescued people, provisioning of medical care and distribution of essential supplies were carried out by multiple agencies in a coordinated and efficient manner.The exercise brought out the role and function of various departments by conducting joint operations.

The significance of early warning systems of agencies like Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) and Indian Ocean National Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) were emphasised upon. The exercise culminated with a static display which demonstrated the efficient and functional layout of a relief and rehabilitation camp for the displaced persons. Several college students were also familiarised with life-saving skills during emergency situations. 

LG visits disabled soldier
Lieutenant General RK Anand, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Dakshin Bharat Area (DB Area) also visited severely disabled soldier Sepoy Tirupathaiah who is undergoing treatment at ICU of Military Hospital for acute brain injury.
