3 held for ‘killing’ calf in Naraina

The DCP added that they received a PCR call around 4 am from locals, who claimed they had spotted the three men carrying the carcass in a bag.

Three persons, including two BPO employees, have been arrested for allegedly killing a calf in west Delhi’s Naraina on Sunday. According to police, the men were carrying the carcass in a gunny bag. Police have registered an FIR under IPC Section 428 (killing an animal) and Section 11 of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act at Inderpuri police station.

Confirming the arrest, DCP (west) Vijay Kumar said, “All three accused hail from Manipur and live in a rented accommodation in Naraina. Two of them work at a call centre, while the third is preparing for a competitive examination.”

The DCP added that they received a PCR call around 4 am from locals, who claimed they had spotted the three men carrying the carcass in a bag. “Police reached the spot and detained the men. They were taken to Inderpuri police station for further investigation to avoid any untoward incident,” said a senior police officer, adding that two kitchen
knives were recovered from their possession.
