Water level in Srisailam reservoir reached 865.6 feet with storage of about 125 TMC ft as at 9 p.m. on Saturday in spite of releases to Nagarjunasagar project downstream, to Kalwakurthy and Handri-Neeva lift irrigation schemes and to Pothireddypadu regulator in the foreshores of the reservoir as steady inflows of over 1.6 lakh cusecs continued to pour into it from Jurala.

Flood monitoring officials at Jurala stated that they were expecting the flood to continue for a few days more although fall in the inflows into Almatti project was forecast by the Central Water Commission.

Flood into Almatti expected to be much higher since its catchment areas had heavy rainfall of 12 cm on September 19 and about 25 cm on September 20.

Spillway discharges

Constant heavy inflows of 1.6 lakh cusecs to 1.7 lakh cusecs continued to reach Jurala throughout Saturday with the help of over 30,000 cusecs being let into Bhima river, a tributary of Krishna, from Ujjani dam in Maharashtra. However, there is no flood supplementation from Tungabhadra river since the spillway discharges at Sunkesula barrage were stopped in the wee hours of September 22.

Release of water from Srisailam after power generation for the last few days has helped the water level of Nagarjunasagar improve to 508.4 feet on Saturday night as the storage reached about 129 TMC ft. It's likely to improve further irrespective of the inflows into Srisailam since the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) issued orders on Friday for release of 16 TMC ft water to Nagarjunasagar for drinking water needs of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.Meanwhile, the hopes of Sriramsagar project getting some flood from Maharashtra has improved with the expected release of water into Godavari river course from Jayakwadi reservoir as its storage has reached full reservoir level with the help of good inflows of over 50,000 cusecs. The reservoir has storage of 102.73 TMC ft water.
