HYDERABAD: The state government is exploring all options, whether to float a Corporation or form a body under Cooperative Act for the proposed ‘Rashtriya Rytu Samanvaya Samithi’, a state-level body.
According to sources in Agriculture department, the nodal department for forming village to state-level Rytu Samanvaya Samthis, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao did not convene any meeting with the officials so far on this.
Sources in TRS said Rao is yet to take a decision whether to float a Corporation or a body under Cooperative Act. During the NT Rama Rao regime, when the then AP government floated Karshaka Parishats, the court struck it down. Sources said the CM wanted the Law department to study Karshaka Parishat case too. Even if a state Rytu body was started as per Cooperative Act, there is a provision for nominating state president without conducting election, sources said.
The discussion on the proposed state farmers’ body was due to the state government’s decision to allow the state level body to raise `5,000 crore external loan for providing minimum support price to the agriculture produce. Besides, the state will earmark `500 crore in the normal state budget for the state level farmers’ body. The state government issued a GO in August for the formation of village, mandal, district and state Rytu Samanvaya Samithi by Sept 9. However, so far 90 pc mandal committees were in place against 550 rural mandals in the State.
Gutta silent on resignation
Meanwhile, in an informal chat with mediapersons at Secretariat, Nalgonda MP Gutta Sukhender Reddy neither denied nor accepted the reports about his resignation as MP to take the new responsibility as state coordinator of State Rytu Samithi. The MP said that the CM would decide on his resignation. However, Gutta Sukhender Reddy would be nominated in village and later in a mandal Rytu samtihi.
