BHUBANESWAR: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), on Friday, produced BJD MLA Pravat Ranjan Biswal in a court here, two days ahead of the completion of the remand period. The Central agency informed the court that Biswal’s interrogation was complete.

Since the Cuttack-Choudwar MLA had claimed certain health problems, the court directed doctors at Special Jail, Jharpada to examine Biswal. If the need arises, he could be taken him to Capital Hospital.
“We have applied for Biswal’s bail on health grounds. The court will hear the matter on Saturday," his lawyer, Anup Pattnaik said. Earlier in the day, Enforcement Directorate (ED) and CBI officials met to discuss about the ongoing multi-crore chit fund scam investigation.

Joint Director, ED, Madhab Mishra and Assistant Director Sibaji Nayak held discussions with CBI SIT DIG Manish Sinha at the CBI office here. After the meeting, ED Joint Director informed mediapersons that the meeting was to take stock of investigation of various cases. While the ED is probing money trail of the ponzi firms, the CBI is investigating the criminal aspects of the multi-crore fraud.
