Union Textile minister Smriti Irani has released an audio-video clip of newly built Deendayal Hastkala Sankul in Varanasi on Twitter. She also made an appeal to people saying: “On your next visit to Banaras, catch a glimpse of the rich textile heritage of the holy city at Deendayal Hastkala Sankul.” The Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday dedicated the Sankul to the nation. The video starts with describing the Varanasi as the city of knowledge and art.
The two-minute 37 seconds video also talks about the infrastructure of the Deendayal Hastkala Sankul. Build by NBCC India Ltd, the Sankul houses both business center, and museum. The project spans across 7.93 acres, with a built-up area of 43,450 square metres. The approximate cost of the complex is 300 crore rupees. It also has an office block for the businessmen, and will also house government offices, banks and ATMs etc. A modern convention center with a capacity of 1500 people is also built inside the Sankul.

A trade facilitation centre in Sankul will help weavers and artisans of Varanasi to integrate into the global economy. This will to provide support for compliance with trade procedures, formalities and legal and regulatory requirements, the Ministry of Textiles said in a statement.
The Sankul will facilitate the weavers, artisans, exporters in the promotion of handlooms and handicrafts in both domestic and international markets. The Crafts Museum in the Sankul will preserve the traditional handloom and handicrafts products of Varanasi. It will also showcase the handloom and handicraft products, which will be an inspiration for the new generation, scholars, designers and tourists.
