Boy lynched, minor molested in Guntur district

A 16-year-old girl was allegedly molested by two men at Navuluru village under Mangalagiri rural police station limits on Friday.

Guntur Urban DSP, North, G. Ramanjaneyulu said the two men picked her up from her home and took her to an isolated spot in front of the ACA Cricket Stadium, where they allegedly molested her.

Locals who heard some commotion raised an alarm. The girl was taken home and later a police case was registered at the Mangalagiri Rural Police Station.

Basing on a complaint from the girl’s parents, cases under Section 376 and POCSO Act were registered.

Six held for lynching

In another incident, six persons were taken into custody in the case relating to lynching of a 17-year old boy at Tadepalli late on Friday night.

Mr. Ramanjaneyulu said that the accused were identified as Seshu, Mahesh, Naveen, Venu, Gopi and Pandu. All of them were booked under Section 302 IPC and POCSO Act.

The boy, Sreekanth, a native of Tadepalli, along with two of his friends was returning home on a motorcycle after watching a movie late on Thursday night. As soon as they passed the Aravinda School, a group of six persons confronted them. Suspecting the boys to be thieves, they attacked them with stones. In the melee, two boys fled leaving Sreekanth at the mercy of the gang.

The gang tied him with a rope and began beating him with sticks. Locals who heard the commotion rushed in to find the body of boy in a serious condition. The staff at Manipal Hospital refused to admit the boy in a serious condition and he was later shifted to GGH, Vijayawada. Doctors confirmed his death on Friday afternoon.

Mr. Ramanjaneyulu said the boy’s body bore injury marks on genitals and on head.
