more-in

Some bridges that had been under water for two days in Belagavi district have been opened up for traffic, following reduced flow of water from dams in Maharashtra and receding rainfall in the district.

Inflow from Maharashtra has stabilised at around one lakh cusecs in river Krishna and its tributaries including Doodh Ganga. As much as 81,000 cusecs is getting released from the Rajapur barrage while around 21,000 cusecs is flowing into the Doodh Ganga from various barrages.

Bridges over Ved Ganga river in Akkol and Jatrat, that were under water, have now been opened for traffic. However, several bridges are still under water in Yadur, Mallikwad, Karadaga, Bhojwadi, Barwad and Kalloli. In some places, villages are using alternative routes while in other places, commuters have to take long diversions to reach the other end of the bridges.
