BHOPAL : State BJP leaders, who had become hyper-active after the visit of BJP President Amit Shah, seem to have lost steam within less than a month.
On Shah’s directive, it was decided that Core Committee meeting would be held on September 17. However, the meeting never materialized. Instead, on September 16, a co-ordination meeting of the government and party office-bearers was convened. The core committee members were informed that the committee would meet on September 22 but later the meeting was again deferred.
Shah had also asked the state unit to chalk out a strategy to snatch Chhindwara, Guna and Jhabua seats from the Congress. State co-organisational general secretary Atul Rai was mandated with the responsibility. Rai was asked to report directly to Shah.
However, Shah is yet to tour these constituencies. Shah had directed ministers to make night halts in districts under their charge. But barring a couple of ministers, most of them have not adhered to the directive. They also flouted Shah’s directive to address meetings of party workers during their visits to the districts.
During his three-day stay in the state capital, Shah had presided over around 11 meetings of party office-bearers. Sources blamed factionalism at district-level for party’s failure to follow the directives. A senior BJP MLA said that many problems were hindering the party. He said that raising funds and ensuring coordination at district level was a difficult proposition. That is why; all directives cannot be followed.
