After PM Narendra Modi flags off Mahamana Express in Varanasi, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal takes a ride Indian Railways train, interacts with passengers

  • Mahamana Express train flagged off: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today flagged off Indian Railways new Mahamana Express train from his Lok Sabha constituency, i.e. Varanasi. It will ply between Vadoara and Varanasi. The Mahamana Express with plush interiors, had run on two routes till today, Varanasi-New Delhi and Bhopal-Khajuraho, says PTI. At the inauguration ceremony, he was joined by Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani, UP Governor Ram Naik, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, who was at Vadodara also joined the event via video link with other officials. The train will be running between Vadodara and Varanasi. What is interesting is that Railway Minister Goyal chose to travel by the train and experience the ride himself. Not just that, he also interacted with the passengers to find out what their views were about the new train. Here are the photos:

  • What makes this train class apart from general trains is its plush interiors. The special features include: Modular panels, Ergonomically designed ladders for climbing to the upper berth, appealing toilet modules with big mirror, controlled discharged water.   • The new weekly train consists of 18 coaches- one AC 1st class, two 2nd class AC, eight sleepers, four general, one pantry car and two guard brake vans. There is no AC-3 tier coach. (Railway Minister Piyush Goyal interacts with Mahamana Express train passengers.) (Image: ANI)

  • Mahamana Express is a weekly train which will run from Varanasi every Friday and from Vadodara every Wednesday.
