BENGALURU: Sharath had a passion for motorcycles since childhood. Ironically, it was that love that drove him into the clasp of his kidnappers. Vishal and his associates had lured Sharath saying that he could take a Benelli motorcycle worth Rs 6 lakh out for a spin.

Sharath’s uncle Chandru said his attraction towards bikes developed in childhood.“He would collect pictures and even miniatures of superbikes and be up to date about the latest ones. No wonder he pursued diploma in automobile engineering,” he added. Sharath was studying in a private college at Hessarghatta.
Sharath’s grandfather had promised that he would buy him a motorcycle on his 18th birthday. After he passed away, Sharath’s parents kept the promise and bought him a Royal Enfield Classic 350 motorcycle after availing a loan of Rs 1 lakh from a bank.
