Khanna: Infant stolen from hospital recovered, was sold for Rs 50,000

The main suspect was identified as Narinder Kaur alias Nimmo of Khanna who was captured in CCTV cameras entering the hospital and taking away the baby.

Hours after a two-week-old baby boy was stolen from Civil Hospital of Khanna in district Ludhiana, the police recovered the baby and arrested four persons in the case. The main suspect was identified as Narinder Kaur alias Nimmo of Khanna who was captured in CCTV cameras entering the hospital and taking away the baby.

Khanna SSP Navjot Mahal said the woman confessed having sold the baby to a couple through her accomplice Iqbal Singh for Rs 50,000. The police have also arrested Iqbal Singh and the couple, Jasvir Singh and Dharamjit Kaur.

Posing as a nurse, Narinder Kaur told the mother that the baby had to undergo some blood tests. She also gave Rs 20 to the mother Sarita and asked her to go and eat something from the canteen. In the meantime, she fled with the baby.

The parents of the baby are the natives of Bihar and work as daily wagers in Khanna.
