The app allows devotees to book seva at Kukke Subramanya and other temples
BENGALURU: Theertha from Dharmasthala Manjunatha temple, laddoo from Chamundeshwari temple in Mysuru or the ‘mrittika’ from Kukke Subramanya — these and more will soon be available at your doorstep at the click of an app. A Mysuru-based firm is designing a mobile app for the Muzrai department through which devotees can offer pooja and even place an order for prasada.
“Last month, we entrusted a Mysuru-based company with the task of developing Pooja Prayer, a mobile app. They are expected to complete the work on the app in another month. Devotees can book rooms at pilgrimage centres, book a seva in advance and get prasada at their doorstep,’’ a senior official from the department told Express.
In Karnataka, there are 34, 559 temples under Muzrai Department. Of these, 175 temples are Class A (whose annual revenue is above `25 lakh), 163 are Class B (annual income between `5 and `25 lakh) and the remaining come under Class C (annual income less than `5 lakh).Shadakshari Swamy, commissioner of Religion and Charitable Endowment, said the mobile application is being designed. “We cannot disclose more at this moment,’’ he added.
The official said sevas at some temples have to be booked weeks in advance. For instance, at Kukke Subramanya temple, Sarpa Samskaara seva has to be booked at least four months in advance. In such cases, devotees can book the seva on the app.
The official said payments can be made online through the app and it will be credited to the respective temple trust. “Devotees will get a message via mail when the pooja is done. Prasada will be sent through courier to devotees in any part of the world.”The app was designed keeping in mind devotees living abroad who would want to offer a pooja at popular temples like Kukke Subramanya, Nanjundeshwara temple and Dharmasthala, the official said.
