A 27-year old techie was nabbed by a team from the Two Town Police Station, here on Friday, for allegedly duping youngsters in the name of providing jobs at Eastern Naval Command.
The accused dressed up as naval officer in uniform and posed as a commander in ENC, and allegedly cheated youth in Visakhapatnam and West Godavari districts by promising jobs and for which he allegedly collected about ₹2 lakh from each one of them.
The accused was identified as K Sandarsh, resident of Eluru and native of Isukathota Visakhapatnam.
Sandarsh, posing himself as Commander in ENC, has reportedly duped two youths (brothers) to the tune of ₹ 4.27 lakh. He promised them jobs of clerks in Naval Dock Yard.
As per the complainant, Sandarsh met one A Vengala Rao, resident of Kailasapuram area at an occasion. He introduced himself as commander in ENC. The accused also informed Vengala Rao that there are a few vacant posts of clerks, sailors, drivers in ENC and with his influence, he could join them. Vengala Rao and his brother A. Ramesh reportedly gave him a sum of ₹ 2.11 lakh and ₹ 2.16 lakh respectively.
Sandarsh has reportedly given the duo fake appointment letters for the posts of clerks in ENC.
The brothers realised that they were duped, after they went to office at Naval Dockyard with the appointment letters, where the officers present informed them that they were cheated.
Following a complaint on Sept. 16, the police started investigating the case and on Friday, they arrested the accused.
