Two persons were arrested on September 17 for allegedly robbing and killing a 42-year-old man on August 22 in north-west Delhi’s Ashok Vihar. Two other accused are absconding, the police said on Thursday.
Sanjeev Gajwani, who used to run a business of hosiery in Shastri Nagar, was shot dead outside his house by four men identified as Sanjay (24), Dalip Singh (31), Rajesh alias Raju alias Surya alias Shanker (30), and Ravi Dedha. Of the four, Sanjay and Dalip were arrested while the two are on the run.
On August 22, the victim was parking his scooty outside the house after returning from work when the accused on two motorcycles appeared, snatched his bag containing ₹50,000 cash, fired at him and fled the spot.
The victim was rushed to Sunder Lal Jain Hospital where he was declared brought dead. The police found the accused after identifying one of the motorcycles used in the crime.
Motorcycle identified
“We identified the bike after obtaining details of 2,000 white coloured motorcycles. Two criminals were identified and apprehended from Bharat Nagar,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (north-west) Milind Mahadeo Dumbere. “Efforts are being made to nab the absconding accused,” added Mr. Dumbere.
During interrogation, Dalip told he was aware of Sanjeev carrying ₹4-5 lakh cash on weekends.
