Modi is on his first visit to Varanasi after the BJP's landslide victory in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly election. During this visit he plans to distribute loan waiver certificates to farmers. Modi arrived in his parliamentary constituency on a two-day visit on Friday to launch a number of projects and development schemes.

Earlier today he addressed a rally in Varanasi's  Shahanshahpur after inaugurating the Pashudhan Arogya Mela.
