The police arrested a woman for slashing the genitals of her partner at a lodge at Kuttippuram on Thursday.
The man, hailing from Purathur, was admitted to a private hospital at Perinthalmanna with three-fourths of his genitals being severed. The police said the woman slashed the genitals of the 23-year-old man in apparent revenge for jilting her. The woman from Perumbavoor claimed that she had been married to Irshad for the past six months.
Irshad and the woman checked into the lodge at Kuttippuram town around 11 a.m. on Thursday. Around 11.45 a.m., the woman, wearing a white salwar kameez, came running downstairs in panic, saying that her husband was in an emergency and that he needed an ambulance. The hotel authorities arranged the ambulance, and Irshad was rushed to a hospital at Valanchery. He was later shifted to a private hospital at Perinthalmanna for surgery.
The woman was taken to the police station, where she reportedly admitted to having slashed the genitals of her partner for cheating her. Irshad’s family was not aware of his secret marriage with the woman. The police said the woman was provoked as he had been reportedly looking for another marriage proposal.
