“[Mr. Kejriwal] has a national profile of fighting against corruption... we had a dialogue about this and we are united in this,” says the actor.

Actor Kamal Haasan has made clear his political ambitions, indicating that he is ready to serve as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

Mr. Haasan made this revelation in an interview to India Today channel late on Thursday. He said he was ready to join politics and become the Chief Minister. “Someone has to wear the Neta’s cap. It will be a crown of thorns. Someone has to clean the quagmire and make this place habitable for people. I’m not hungry for power but we will seize the opportunity if that’s the only way to deliver for the people,” he said.

Mr. Haasan said the politicians have slowly, without realising it, pulled down the State to a weak, pathetic level. “I’m going to be meeting people, step by step, and give them a clear road map,” he added.

Earlier, after meeting Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal at his Alwarpet residence, Mr. Haasan said it was a learning curve for him.

Mr. Kejriwal met the actor at his residence in Eldams road on Thursday afternoon and was earlier received at the airport here by his daughter Akshara Haasan. Their meeting lasted for about an hour and they were joined by Ashutosh, spokesperson of the Aam Aadmi Party and Somnath Bharati. Following this, they spoke to the media.

Stating that Kamal is among the rare breed of people who have decided to stick their neck out against corruption, Mr. Kejriwal said that the actor had decided to enter politics rather than merely cursing from outside.

“It is important when the country is facing strong forces of corruption and communalism that like-minded people talk to each other and work in tandem with each other. We had a good meeting; we exchanged ideas and spoke about the situation in Tamil Nadu and the country,” Mr. Kejriwal said, and added that they would continue to meet in the future.
