Police fired at two men trying to flee after reportedly breaking into a medical store near Lakshmipura, Vidyaranyapura, in North Bengaluru early on Friday morning.

Policemen on night patrol got a tip-off that two burglars had struck at Modern Medical Store. They rushed to the spot and tried to catch the suspects.

The men attacked the police team with a knife, injuring sub-inspector Annaiah of Vidyaranyapura police station. To prevent the suspects from fleeing, the police fired at them and caught them down.

Police identified the suspects as Ashok (25), of Chikkaballapur, and Narayanaswamy (32), of Gauribidanur.

Both of them have been injured in the firing and are being treated at a private hospital.

Annaiah has also been hospitalised. Doctors said all the three were out of danger.
