Randuper, directed by Premshankar, and Eden, directed by Sanju Surendran, will compete for the top honours at the 22nd edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) to be held here from December 8 to 15. The two films were selected for inclusion in the competition section by a jury headed by cameraman Ramachandra Babu and comprising Chelavoor Venu, M.G. Sasi, Judajith Sarcar and Veena Hariharan.
Seven films
The jury also selected seven films to the ‘Malayalam Cinema Today’ section of the festival.
The films to be screened in the ‘Malayalam Cinema Today’ section are Mahesh Narayanan’s Take off, Dilish Pothen’s Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum, Salim Kumar’s Karutha Joothan, Sanalkumar Sasidharan’s Sexy Durga, Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Ankamaly Diaries, Satheesh Babusenan-Santhosh Babusenan team’s Maravi, and Prasanth Vijay’s Athisayangalude Venal.
Sexy Durgawithdrawn
In a Facebook post, Sanalkumar Sasidharan announced that he was withdrawing his film from the IFFK as he did not think that Sexy Durga needed ‘promotion as a Malayalam film’.
The movie, Mr. Sasidharan said, had won awards and accolades in around 45 film festivals around the world.
