Brahmotsavam to begin at Lord Venkateswara shrine tomorrow

The nine-day annual Navarathri Brahmotsavam festivities at the Lord Venkateswara shrine near here will begin tomorrow.

As part of the opening ceremony, the high priests would unfurl the traditional sacred Garuda Flag atop the Golden Holy Mast (Dwajastambham) inside the hill shrine after sunset on Saturday, temple sources said.


A traditional ceremony called 'Ankuraarpaanam' was conducted by the priests this evening on the eve of the festivities, they said.

Observing the decades old practice, Chief Minister would arrive at the hills on Saturday night and make an offering of a set of new silk clothes on behalf of the state to the shrine,they said.

The 'Garudaseva' procession would take place on September 27 night while the Lord's chariot procession on September 30, they added.

Tight security arrangements have been made for the festivities.
