Body of man from Darjeeling found hanged near river in Raj

Press Trust of India  |  Kota (Raj)

The body of a 23-year-old man from Darjeeling was found hanging from a tree near the Chambal river in Gulabpura area today, police said.

Paasang Pamang, a resident of Bhanugram in Naxalbari, is likely to have committed suicide, Assistant Sub-Inspector Fariyad Hussain said, but added no suicide note was found.

The tree trunk bore foot marks, most likely of Pamang's.

Hussain said Pamang's appearance suggested he could have been with the Army or the police.

An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow after the arrival of Pamang's family members.
