NEW DELHI: Former Union Minister and Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on Friday lashed out at Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for targeting his son Karti and dared agency to provide proof.
"Why doesn't CBI take my open offer and name the alleged undisclosed assets?" Chidambaram was quoted as saying by ANI.
Chidambaram was reacting to reports that his son Karti was prevented from travelling abroad as he was trying to close his several offshore accounts.
On media report of Karti Chidambaram having many offshore accounts,
"An absolute lie, by quoting CBI, lie doesn't become truth," Chidambaram said while dismissing the resprt.
He also said his family will execute any document necessary to transfer the alleged "undisclosed asset".
"I have already made a public statement that my family and I will execute any document necessary to transfer the alleged 'undisclosed asset' to the government so that government can become the owner," he said.
Earlier in the day, the CBI claimed in the Supreme Court that a lookout notice was issued against Karti Chidambaram, son of former Union Minister P Chidambaram, to prevent him from travelling abroad as he was closing several of his foreign bank accounts.
The apex court, which was hearing the matter relating to a corruption case against Karti, was informed by the agency that several issues have come out during the investigation and many others were expected to be revealed.
