Reacting sharply to the charge of committing war crimes in the Valley, India on Friday called Pakistan 'terroristan' and slammed Shahid Khaqan Abbasi for raking up the Kashmir issue at the UN General Assembly.
"In its short history, Pakistan has become a geography synonymous with terror. The quest for a land of pure has actually produced 'the land of pure terror'. Pakistan is now Terroristan," India said while hitting out at Pakistan.
The diplomat who rebutted Abbasi was Eenam Gambhir, India's First Secretary of the Permanent Mission to the United Nations.
Gambhir is a 2005-batch Indian Foreign Service officer. Hailing from Delhi, she is a Mathematics graduate from Delhi University's Hindu College. According to various media reports, Gambhir also has a degree from the University of Geneva.
According to the Livemint report, her first posting was in Madrid, where as the third secretary, she learnt Spanish: her compulsory foreign language. After a stint as a second secretary in India's Embassy in Argentina, one of the two biggest missions in South America, the other being Brazil, she returned to India, the report added.
Gambhir was then assigned to the Pakistan-Afghanistan-Iran desk in the Ministry of External Affairs, Hindustan Times reported.

At the UN, Gambhir is in charge of several verticals, including, Security Council reform, counter-terrorism, cyber security issues. She is also responsible for coordination with all Special Missions including those approved by the UNSC and NAM. As part of India's public diplomacy, Gambhir is also a coordinator for outreach with Universities and Colleges.
While first secretary is a junior rank in the hierarchy of India's foreign service, Gambhir rose to fame after her stinging rebuttal to former Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif, after he called slain Hizbul commander Burhan Wani a 'martyr'.
Calling Pakistan a host to the Ivy League of terrorism, Gambhir had called out Islamabad's hypocrisy over terrorism.
"The land of Taxila, one of the greatest learning centres of ancient times, is now host to the Ivy League of terrorism. It attracts aspirants and apprentices from all over the world. The effect of its toxic curriculum are felt across the globe. It is ironical therefore that we have seen today the preaching of human rights and ostensible support for self-determination by a country which has established itself as the global epicentre of terrorism," Gambhir had said while elucidating India's response to Sharif's speech.
After her speech, Gambhir trended on Twitter, with Indians hailing her bold statement at the UN General Assembly.
If there is one hashtag we should trend it is #EenamGambhir for such a fab rebuttal to Sharif at @UN on behalf of #India go for it folks!
