NEW DELHI: Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) today said it has retailed over 52,000 units on the first day of Navratra festival.

The company said its sales grew by 122 per cent to over 52,000 units, a record for the company, on the first day of the festival as compared with 23,702 units in 2016.

"By strategically advancing the start of the new assembly line (in Karnataka plant), Honda's production has increased by additional 50,000 two-wheelers per month ahead of the auspicious period," HMSI Senior Vice President - Sales and Marketing Yadvinder Singh Guleria said in a statement.

This has given dealers a big advantage of being better prepared to meet festive demand this time, he added.

Besides, network expansion, marketing campaigns, new model launches and attractive festive schemes has helped the company grow during the festive season, Guleria said.

"As a trend, we are seeing huge spike in our customer walk-ins and overall retails in every festival, be it Ganesh Chaturthi, Onam or even the beginning of Navratri," he added.
