Rajkummar Rao's Newton is India's official entry to Oscars this year

There couldn't be a better day for this piece of news to come. On the day, Rajkummar Rao's Newton hit the screens, the 33-year-old actor revealed that his film is India's official entry to Oscars this year.

The film which has got a thumbs up from critics all around has added another feather to its hat. In fact, many have called it the finest film of 2017 so far.

Before making its entry to Oscars this year, Newton has already won awards at various international film festivals.

Bollywood films are no more about just masala. Hindi film industry is happy expanding their horizons with exciting stories, and one such is that of Amit V Masurkar's Newton.

The film revolves around Newton (Rajkummar Rao) who is assigned election duty in a naxalite area. While many believe that due to the constant fear of guerrilla attacks, no one will cast their vote, Newton decides to bring the change because "If you change nothing, nothing will change."

The film which stars Raghubir Yadav, Pankaj Tripathy and Sanjay Mishra hit the screens on September 22.

Last year, Vetrimaaraan's Tamil crime-drama Visaranai was the official entry to Oscars.
