BENGALURU: The High Court has granted bail to former corporator V Nagaraj and his two sons N Gandhi and N Shastri in seven cases registered by the city police on the charges of kidnap and extortion in connection with exchange of demonetised currency notes.

Hearing a batch of bail pleas filed by Nagaraj and his sons, Justice Rathnakala granted bail while imposing certain conditions. They are to appear before the investigating officials every Thursday, execute a bail bond of `2 lakh each, provide two sureties for like sum and should not indulge in any crime.

The accused were absconding since April 14 after the city police raided their residence for allegedly stashing demonetised cash. A lower court had rejected their bail applications. Seven cases were registered against them in Sriramapura, Hennur, Kengeri and other police station limits. In May last year, they were arrested in Tamil Nadu and had been jailed.
