Anti-corruption body files charge sheet against eight in J-K

An anti-corruption body today filed a charge sheet against eight people, two of whom have died, for allegedly tampering records related to a state land, in a in Rajouri district, officials said.

The charge sheet was filed against four former officials and the beneficiaries in the anti-corruption in Rajouri after obtaining necessary sanction from the competent authority, a spokesman of the Vigilance Organisation Jammu (VOJ), said.


He said the has setOctober 9as the next date of hearing of the case.

The spokesman said vigilance registered a case under Prevention of Corruption Act on July 2, 2011 following allegations that illegal entries and tampering of records related to a state land by the officials have taken place at Dali village in Kalakote area of Rajouri.

"The accused public servants, in a criminal conspiracy with the accused beneficiaries by abusing their official position, conferred undue benefits to them and made illegal and fraudulent entries related to a state land in favour of the beneficiaries," the spokesman said.
