Odisha's anti-corruption vigilance sleuths have arrested a clerk in Nayagarh district for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000 for issuing a work order for construction of a house, vigilance sleuths said.

The accused, Ramesh Kumar Nayak was a junior clerk and in-charge of the development section at the office of Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) at Khandapada.

Nayak had demanded the bribe from a man for issuing a work order for construction of a house under Nirman Shramik Pakka Ghar Scheme, the vigilance department said in a statement.

After receiving a complaint, vigilance officials laid a trap yesterday and caught Nayak red-handed in his office room while he was accepting the bribe from the complainant, the statement said.

The money was recovered from Nayak's possession and he was arrested.
