Foreign exchange earnings (FEEs) from tourism in the month of August this year were Rs 1,369 crore more than that during the same period last year, the tourism ministry has said.

The ministry, which records FEEs every month, said tha the earnings in August 2017 stood at Rs 13,922 crore as against Rs 12,553 crore in August 2016 and Rs 11,411 crore in August 2015.

There was a 10.9 per cent growth in FEEs in rupee terms in August 2017 over August 2016. The earnings rose by 10 per cent in August 2016 over August 2015, it said in a statement.

FEEs during January–August 2017 were worth Rs 1,16,004 crore, which showed a growth of 16.5 per cent over the same period the previous year.

In January–August 2016, FEEs stood at Rs 99,587 crore, recording a growth of 13.9 per cent over January–August 2015.
